Thu 16.6. - Wed 22.6.2011 Riverside Nap Pillows in Salo

083

In May 2011 everyone in Salo could allow themselves to sit down on riverside benches, rest their head on a pillow, marvel at cumulus clouds forming lovely shapes resembling cabbages and dragons – or simply close their eyes and listen to the sounds of the early summer, the murmur of the Moisionkoski rapids and the buzz of conversation drifting from the café in the market square.

The handicraft workshop of the association of the unemployed in Salo participated in Turku365 Art Clinic and created an artwork that could be experienced on the riverside benches of downtown Salo from Monday to Sunday. At the end of the week the patchwork pillows were given to inhabitants who wanted to welcome some leisurely peace and quiet into their homes.

The first part of this project was given in Turku on week 21, see the photos here.

The Riverside Nap Pillows were a production of Turku365 Art Clinic, where groups and private individuals create public urban artworks tailored for their personal skills and interests.
